Eduardo Portal, conductor

Debut in Mainz and critical acclaim

"Under the direction of Eduardo Portal the Philharmonic Orchestra Mainz performed at its peak"

30th, January 2017

Two performances received last week the critical acclaim from the german press. Eduardo Portal conducting the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz, was reviewed as follows:

"[...] an inspiring conductor: with two highly transparent symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart [...] - one could see particularly well how exactly Eduardo Portal The Mainz Philharmonic State Orchestra led. With delicate finger movements he showed, always full of contours, what he demanded from his musicians - and this also worked even when he  stopped any motion: how gladly would one have seen the expression of the agile conductor instead of the back." Allgemeine Zeitung 22.01.2017

The concerts were very well received by an audience who enjoyed, besides the two Mozart symphonies, Bridge's The Sea and Brittens piano concerto with Steven Osborne featuring as soloist.
