Assistant conductor London Philharmonic Orchestra

Selected by Vladimir Jurowski, principal conductor of the LPO, Eduardo Portal held the position of assistant conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra during the season 2010-11. He will first appear with the orchestra in November 2011 at the Royal Festival Hall.

Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Young Melgaard Conductor

Eduardo Portal was the successful candidate who became Young Melgaard Conductor of the OAE for the 2009-2010 season, making his debut with the orchestra in May 2010 at the London Southbank Centre, and following a performance in February 2011. He assisted Sir Simon Rattle, Vladimir Jurowski and Ivan Fischer amongst others.

Junior Fellow in Conducting Royal Northern College of Music

Sir Mark Elder headed the jury that unanimously voted Eduardo winner in 2008 of the Junior Fellowship in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music, position that he held two years. That gave him the chance to work with all the RNCM orchestras and ensembles, including the RNCM Opera Orchestra, with whom he conducted four successful performances of the operas Katya Kabanova and La Belle Hélène at the Bruntwood-Theatre, RNCM Manchester.

Music Director Antares Ensemble

Following his interest for contemporary repertoire, he has founded the Antares Ensemble in Spain in order to perform new music and research its links with old and not very often performed masterpieces.
